The Marin Blue Angels 14u/Lightfoot team put up a great fight all week long at the Triple Crown Sports 14u World Series in Park City, Utah. The team finished 25th out of 84 teams.
The Blue Angels were tested early and often by some very competitive teams from Southern California, Utah and Hawaii. After pool play, the Blue Angels won two back-to-back elimination games, sending two teams home before falling just short in their last elimination game to the eventual bracket champion. One of those elimination games included an amazing, come-from-behind victory where the Blue Angels defense had to retire the side within four minutes in order to get another opportunity to bat. “Down two runs with time literally expiring and we’re the visitors trying to shut them down to get another inning in was an emotional roller coaster,” said head coach Steve Lightfoot. “Then, we still had to score two runs to tie – and we didn’t make it easy on ourselves. We scored four runs with two outs and no baserunners on at the time.” It was a thrilling win and overall, the girls learned so much and bonded so well playing in the World Series.”
Next up for the Blue Angels 14u / Lightfoot team is the CSA / ASA Tournament in South Lake Tahoe July 29-30.
The team will be moving to 16u in Fall 2017. Tryouts are August 27 – please see the Tryouts page of this website for more information and to register for tryouts.
